Are You Using Gmail And Buzz?

If you are not using gmail and you have not heard of Buzz then you may not be doing a great marketing job. Start today. It may take you time to get used to all the finder detail of both these Google products. A real nice article to read is 4 Step Personal Branding With Google Buzz.

Marketing Tips for Using Google Buzz

Peter du Toit - I enjoyed this: “Encourage everyone in your company to be
active on Google Buzz. Marketing is not just for the Marketing
Department anymore. You need to get lots of people in your company to
blog, to be active in social media and to reach out to the community of
people in your industry. Just like you encourage them to be active in
other social networks, encourage them to be active in Google Buzz.”

The First Ever Published Coffee News

A few days ago we received a copy of the first ever published Coffee News by Jean Daum.

The most interesting aspects of this newspaper:
    • For more than 20 years it’s still running strongly with many millions of copies being read around the world.
    • More than a 1000 small business people use the concept to entertain readers and create trust for the advertisers.
    • The clear and open spaces that draw your attention to the ads. Even when you read the content the ads are nicely designed to pull you in.

How Do You Cultivate The Fan Base?

Seth Godin published the following list recently

    • Strangers are customers to be, but not yet
    • Critics are those that would speak ill of you, or need to be converted
    • Friends are those that might have given permission, or even buy now and then
    • Fans are members of your tribe, supporters and insiders

And it reminded me of off-line small business advertisers who spend all their time trying to advertise to strangers.

These advertisers have no way of connecting with their fans.

They cannot use their supporters to spread the word.

They cannot ask their supporters to help them.

They don’t spend time and money on getting their fans back.

No. They waste all their advertising bucks trying to connect to strangers.

What they don’t know is that their support base, their fans know these strangers better.

Make a plan to cultivate your fan base by using online tools.
